PM pays tributes at Bangabandhu’s grave

FROM THE PRIME MINISTER’S CARAVAN: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also founding president of Bangladesh, at Tungipara of Goplaganj on the National Mourning Day.

The premier reached there by a helicopter where she was accompanied by Jatiya Sangsad speaker, several Cabinet members, chiefs the three defense forces and other high officials.

The PM placed floral wreaths at the grave of Bangabandhu 10:00am Friday followed by giving a guard of honor by a team of three armed forces to her.

Quran recitation and offering munajat were held seeking eternal salvation to the departed soul of Bangabandhu.

Later, speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury paid tributes at Bangabandhu’s grave. Awami League also placed wreaths there.

Awami League advisory council members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofael Ahmed, Suranjit Sengupa, Abdul Latif Siddiuie, Begum Motia Chudhury, PM’s energy advisor HT Imam, Al general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, among others, accompanied the premier there.

Having placed the wreaths, Hasina stayed awhile alone next to her father’s grave, offered fateha and joined in the dua.

Then she left Tungipara for Dhaka by the copter at 11:25am, which landed on a helipad in the city’s Tejgaon at 12:00pm.
