Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl IGP) Barrister Harun Or Rashid has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

A circular signed by Mahabur Rahman Sheikh, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division under the Home Ministry, was issued in this regard on Wednesday (May 29).

According to the circular, the order of the appointment will be effective from 5 June. 

Harun, who is now posted at Police Headquarters, will succeed the incumbent RAB DG M Khurshid Hossain.

The outgoing DG of the RAB will go on retirement on 5 June, said another circular issued today.
