JHENIDAH: Two people, including an engineer, were killed as lightning struck them in at two separate villages under Shailkupa upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified Engineer Titon Biswas, 23, son of Moshiur Rahman, resident of Lakkhandia village and Shafiq Mollah, 40, son of Mozahar Mollah and resident of Khalkula village of the upazila.

Police sources said lightning struck Titon while he was visiting his land in the village around 3:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

On the other hand, thunderbolt struck Shafiq Mollah while he was farming at his land around 2:00, leaving him dead on the spot.

Sub-Inspector of Shailkupa Thana Ashikur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
