Footpath to be freed after Eid-ul-Azha

DHAKA: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said drive would be conducted after the Eid-ul-Azha to make free the footpath from hawkers.

The health minister made the remarks in Babu Bazar Bridge area on Wednesday while joining a campaign of Bangladesh Road and Transport Authorities for making awareness on road security.

Obaidul said, “Eviction drive would be conducted if the billboards would not be removed within the Eid.”

The ministry would also take steps to rehabilitate the hawkers, he added.

He also said 90 percent roads were renovated until the Eid-ul-Fitr and rest 10 percent’s work would also be renovated.

Pointing that there are lots of billboard on Dhaka-Chittagong highway, he said Dhaka City Corporation has to take initiative to remove its approved billboards.
