Motor mechanics stab sawmill owner to death, injure two cops in Comilla

COMILLA: A sawmill owner was stabbed to death by some motor mechanics at Kalirbazar in sadar upazila on Monday night following a fracas over the repairing of a motorcycle.

The dead was identified as Sohel, 20, of Kalirbar area.

Associates of the mechanics also attacked a police vehicle and injured two cops after the law-enforcers arrested four of them.

Witnesses said Sohel and some of his friends, who work in a motor garage, had an altercation over the repairing of a motorcycle at about 10:30pm.  

“At one stage of the quarrel, Sohel’s associates beat him up mercilessly and stabbed him to death cruelly on the spot,” police said in a spot account of the incident.

On information, police rushed to the scene, recovered the body and picked up four of the attackers--Mainuddin, Delwar, Asaduzzaman and Monir--from the garage in connection with the killing.

As police were taking the four to the thana, some of their tough associates attacked the police van, leaving two policemen injured.

The police members were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

A murder case was filed in this connection with the kotwali model thana.
