At least 25 passengers were injured on Saturday (August 30) morning after four buses collided in a chain accident on the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar, Madaripur district.

The crash occurred around 9:30 am on the Dhaka-bound lane near Panchchar in Shibchar.

According to local sources and Shibchar Highway Police, a passenger bus heading toward Dhaka lost control, triggering a series of collisions with three other buses following behind. The impact sent the vehicles crashing into each other and against the road divider.

Passengers sustained injuries as the buses were severely damaged, said police, adding all four buses carried injured passengers, who were quickly taken to a nearby health complex for treatment.

Sergeant Md Sabuj of Shibchar Highway Police said officers rushed to the scene immediately after receiving accident reports. Rescue operations were carried out to evacuate the injured.

Traffic on the Dhaka-bound lane was brought to a halt following the collision, but efforts are under way to restore normal vehicle movement, he added.
