Violence to be prevented like past: IGP

CHITTAGONG: Law enforcers will take effective measures like past if Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir trigger any violence after Delwar Hossain Sayedee verdict.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandaker came up with the forewarning after inaugurating a new building of Pahartali Thana in the port city on Saturday noon.

The police boss said, “Apprehending subversive acts, violence after Sayedee verdict, we are taking preparation. We became success earlier to prevent such violence.”

He added: “Police will perform their duties to prevent any kind of violence.”   

With Chittagong Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Abdullah and Former Assistant Police Super Nesar Ahmed.
