RAJSHAHI: No national dailies have been reached at the doors of the readers during dawn for three consecutive days as local agents halted newspaper distribution amid ongoing agent-hawker row.

Angry reaction appeared among the readers whereas the online news portals are only sources of the news.

Rajshahi Newspapers’ Agent Forum is observing the demonstration demanding the implementation of the policy of the Department of Labours.

City Newspapers Hawker Workers Union demanded increasing their commission.

Union general secretary Jamiul Karim Sujon told banglanews, “About 350 hawkers are being affected due to stopping newspaper distribution.”
 
“Grief prevails among the union’s leaders and workers, they have urged to settle the dispute immediately”, he added.

The union also held rallies and procession protesting the Forum’s agenda, the leader told banglanews.

Forum leaders Jugli Kishore told banglanews, “A negotiation meeting will be held between the Union and the Forum on Sunday, and then the newspapers distribution will begin and the readers will have to wait till that day.”
