Student burnt to death in city fire

DHAKA: A college student was burnt to death in a fire incident at capital’s Tejgaon-Shahinbagh area early Saturday.

The deceased was identified Raihan Rahman Avik, 19, a class-XI student of Dhanmondi Ideal College, resident of the area and hailed from Noakhali.

Selim, cousin of the deceased, said that Raihan was caught fire from the stove in the kitchen and spread his whole body rapidly while he was cooking for his family around 2:00am, leaving him serious burnt.

Family members rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injuries around 7:00 am Saturday.

Selim further said that Raihan was used to help his mother in cooking as she is paralyzed.

Sub-Inspector of Tejgaon Thana Didarul Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
