DHAKA: The `Census of Slum Areas and Floating Population 2014` will begin at 12:00am Friday, says Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

BBS disclosed the matter at a press conference at its office in Agargaon area of the city Thursday.

The census will be conducted in two phases in the cities, towns and metropolitans, and some 142 supervisors will collect information on the census, which is being implemented at a cost of Tk 9.32 crores, and BBS told in the briefing.

In the first phase, the census of floating population will be run in the areas from 12:00am to 6:00am Friday. This census will cover bus stands, rail stations, and parks.

The second phase of census of the slum areas will begin at 6:00am on Friday and continue till May 2.

Officials from BBS and different government and private institutions were present at the briefing.
