DHAKA: Foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali is now in the Netherlands to attend Global Oceans Action Summit for Food Security and Blue Growth in The Hague.

Foreign ministry sources confirmed the matter.

According to the sources, ministers and senior representatives from governments, the fishing industry, coastal communities, science and civil society are attending the summit.

The summit aims to bring global attention and increased investment into addressing the three key threats to ocean health and food security: overfishing, habitat destruction and pollution.

"Urgent joint action of the global community is needed to address the threats facing our oceans", said Sharon Dijksma, Minister for Agriculture of the Netherlands.

Moreover, foreign minister Mahmood Ali will also meet president and prosecutor of international court of justice on maritime boundary dispute.

He is also scheduled to meet expatriate Bangladeshis during the Netherlands’ tour.

The minister will return country on April 27 after the four-day summit to end on April 25.
