MANIKGANJ: A suspected thief was beaten to death by angry mob at Dhulondi village in Sadar Upazila of the district early Friday.

Victim, Mamum Hossain, 25, of Uttar Tara village of Ghior, died at the district Sadar Hospital at 4:00am.

Ghior Police Station sources said Mumun made an attempt to steal at one Ranjit Acarhya’s house in Dhulondi village. At that time, family members began shouting; as a result the villagers caught and gave the man a mass-beating, leaving him critically injured.

Manum was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex and later referred to the Sadar Hospital as condition deteriorated where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead, the sources added.

Confirming the matter, Ghior Thana Officer-In-Charge Shaedul Islam told banglanews, a stealing case was filed in this connection.
