Injured Krishak League man dies

KHULNA: An activist of Krishak League, who sustained bullet injuries in clashes during the upazila polls of the 4th phase, succumbed to injuries at a hospital in city Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Selim Patwary, 30, son of Tajul Ahmed of Kajdia village of Rupsha uapzila.

Confirming the matter to banglanews at 8:30pm, district Awami League office secretary Farid Ahmed said “The body will be brought to Khulna after completion of the autopsy at Dhaka.”

Hearing the death news, angry locals blocked Rupsha-Bagerhat road till 9:00am.

On March 23, Selim and 8 others including two lawmen were hit by bullets when police fired gunshots in a bid to prevent the ballot box snatching at Samatasena Dakhil Madrasa voting center during the upazila polls.

The injured were admitted at Khulna Medical College Hospital. Of them, three critically injured were sent Dhaka as their condition deteriorated.

Later, Selim breathed his last at National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (TB Hospital).
