Police in a drive arrested two young men with 300 litres of locally-made liquor during a special drive in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram early Friday (June 13).
The operation was conducted around 1am based on a tip-off.
Later, police recovered the liquor stored in plastic sacks meant for illegal sale.
The arrestees are Md Rifat, 24, son of Ekhlasur Rahman of Fatik Chand Bari in Ward-6, and Md Hanif, 20, son of Obaidul Haque of Nur Khalek Saudagar Bari in Ward-1. They were caught red-handed while selling liquor near the east bank of Jharghoa Dighi, in front of Syedpur Multipurpose High School under Popadia Union.
Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Sarwar told Banglanews that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act for possessing and attempting to sell illegal liquor.
The two were sent to court on Friday morning, he added.
