Bangladesh Police has urged people not to board microbuses or similar vehicles from the middle of roads, following reports of rising incidents of robbery and abduction by fraudsters.
In a statement today, the Police Headquarters said criminals are luring passengers, taking them to remote areas, and robbing them—sometimes demanding ransom through mobile banking at gunpoint.
The public has been advised to avoid accepting food or drinks from strangers and remain alert to criminal gangs like ‘ogyan party’ and ‘malam party’. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity by calling 999.
