A Dhaka court today placed Md Jahangir Alam, former secretary of the Public Security Division, on a two-day remand in connection with the killing of Sheikh Mehedi Hasan Zunayed during the July-August 2024 mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Minhazur Rahman passed the order after police sought a five-day remand.
Jahangir was arrested from the capital’s Gulshan area on October 1, 2024.
According to the case, Zunayed was shot during a procession near the Dhaka Medical Burn Institute on August 5, reportedly by police and Awami League cadres.
He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The case was filed at Bongshal Police Station on September 5, naming Jahangir Alam and others.
