The National Legal Aid Services Organization has recovered Tk 6.63 crore in compensation for labourers, according to a report published on its website today.
The report outlines legal aid activities from 2009 to February 2025, highlighting expanded services from district courts to the Supreme Court, including a toll-free hotline ‘16430’.
Since 2013, two dedicated labourer service cells in Dhaka and Chattogram have provided over 21,000 legal consultations and handled more than 7,700 cases, with many resolved through court and alternative dispute resolution methods.
So far, 29,147 labourers have received support under this initiative, which operates under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to ensure free legal aid for the poor.
