Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today lauded the Bangladesh Army for setting a remarkable example by building 300 houses for flood victims in four southeastern districts, maintaining high standards and transparency.
Addressing the virtual house handover ceremony from his office, Prof Yunus said the Army completed the project—covering Feni, Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram—with only half of the allocated Tk 50 crore budget.
"This initiative shows how efficiently and sincerely our armed forces can serve the people, even under tough conditions," he said.
The housing project was launched after devastating floods in August-September last year left many homeless. Prof Yunus expressed gratitude to the Army and local administrations, hoping for their continued support in future disasters.
Deputy commissioners handed over the house keys on behalf of the chief adviser, with 110 houses distributed in Feni, 90 in Noakhali, 70 in Cumilla, and 30 in Chattogram.
Disaster Management Adviser Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik, and Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman also addressed the event attended by senior officials.
