Mild heat wave sweeps over parts of country: Met office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (Sept 8) predicted a mild heat wave sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rajshahi, Jashore, Chuadanga, Tangail and Faridpur, may continue.

According to the BMD bulletin, mild heat wave is sweeping over the north and north-eastern region and it may continue...the mild wave is also sweeping over Rajshahi, Jashore, Chuadanga, Tangail and Faridpur.
 
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy falls at some places over the country in next 24 hours from 9 this morning.

The well-marked low over west central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and intensified into a depression over the same area.

It is likely to move northwesterly direction and intensified further.

The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, center of the Depression to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
 
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 37.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Rangpur, Rajarhat and Sylhet as minimum temperature today was recorded 23.6 degrees Celsius at Khepupara.

Country's maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 102 millimeters (mm) at Nikli.

The sun sets at 6:09 PM today and rises at 05:43 AM tomorrow in the capital.
