Measles-Rubella campaign opens

DHAKA: The immunization campaign to protect children of the country from the deadly Measles and Rubella has been inaugurated on Friday morning.

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu inaugurated the campaign in front of national museum at 9:00am.

After inauguration, a rally was brought out from in front of National Museum and ended at National Press Club.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Lions Council chairman Doctor Jaglul Abbas mazumder and Lions’ international director Sheikh Kabir Hossain and among others took part in the rally.

The campaign will begin on Friday where children from nine months to under 15-years will be given one dose MR vaccine and  two doses Polio vaccine to under five years children till February 13.

Around 67,000 trained workers and 241,000 volunteers would participate in the programme.

Besides, under this campaign, around 5.20 crore child will be given MR vaccine and 2.20 crore will be given Polio vaccine.
