2 killed in Chattogram truck-CNG collision

Two people were killed in a collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Boalkhali upazila in Chattogram on Monday (April 22) morning.

The accident took place around5:30 am in Raikhali Pool area on the Arakan road in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Delwar Hossain, 30, driver of the auto-rickshaw, and Mizanur Rahman, 32, a fish trader by proffession.

Boalkhali Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Noor Mohammad confirmed the matter.

He said Mizanur was going to Gomdandi Fish Market in Boalkhali to purchase fish when the sand-laden truck collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw, leaving Delwar dead on the spot while Mizanur succumbed to his injuries at Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex.

The bodies were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.

Police seized the truck, but its driver managed to flee the scene, added the police official.
