Two people were killed after their private car crashed into an electric pole being hit by another car from behind at Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj district on Tuesday (Feb 20).

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ullah, 35, and his father in law Siddiqur Rahman, 60, hailed from Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla district.

Abu Nayem Siddique, inspector of Kachpur Highway Police Station confirmed the matter. 

He said the accident occurred as another private car hit their car from behind on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Borpa area in the morning.

Mohammad died on the spot and Siddiqur succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said.

A case was filed in this regard with the police station, the official added.
