DHAKA: The government has appointed Ikram Ahmed as a new Chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC).

The disclosure came from a gazette notification issued by public administration ministry on Monday.

It added that PSC member Ikram Ahmed was made the chairman of the commission as per the special jurisdiction of President, given by article-1 of section-138 of the constitution.

The appointment will be effective from the date of resignation of incumbent Chairman AT Ahmedul Huq Chowdhury.

However, the tenure of the incumbent chairman expired on December 19.
