Zaida Khatun wins Gazipur mayoral race

Independent mayoral candidate Zaida Khatun won the Gazipur City Council elections after a hard-fought battle with Awami League-nominated Azmat Ullah Khan.

Zaida Khatun is mother of Gazipur City former mayor Jahangir Alam whose candidacy was scrapped for bankruptcy.

Zayeda Khatun bagged 238,934 while Azmat Ullah got 222,737 in Thursday's close-fought election.
