Bashundhara Group started distributing winter clothes among 3,000 cold-hit families in 13 upazilas of Dinajpur.
As part of the humanitarian gesture, the largest business conglomerate distributed warm clothes in various places on Tuesday (Jan 17), the first day of the programme.
The northern district of Dinajpur is worst affected by the pinching cold triggered by the sloppy temperature from the Himalayan catchment.
As a result, the low-income people in the district are bearing the brunt of the shivering cold for not having warm clothes.
To protect the poor and destitute of the district from the cold, Bashundhara Group came up with the warm clothes.
The country’s largest business conglomerate distributed clothes on the premises of Saradeshwari Girls' High School in Dinajpur.
Shuvo Sangha, a social organisation of Bashundhara Group's Bengali daily Kaler Kantho, reached out to cold-battered destitute on behalf of the biggest corporate house.
The recipients of the warm clothes included the newspaper hawkers of the district.
Expressing satisfaction with the warm clothes, they called upon other corporate bodies and affluent people to stand by the poor.
Shuvo Sangha director Jakaria Zaman, district unit adviser and members were present at the clothe distribution ceremony.
