4 to die in Manikganj gang rape and murder case The convict in handcuffs

MANIKGANJ:  A Manikganj court gave death penalty to four persons for gang raping and then murdering a schoolgirl at Waijnagar area under Singair upazila of Manikganj.

Judge Mohammad Ali Hossain of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal issued the verdict at 2 pm on Tuesday (September 24).

According to the case statement, the convicts abducted a fifth grader, Rumana Akhter, aged 13, while she was on the way to school on July 16 of 2008. Afterwards, they raped her in turns at a jute field close to her school and strangled her to death.

Uncle of the deceased Kadam Ali filed the case against 6 persons. Two persons were acquitted from the case, because allegations did not prove.

Special Public Prosecutor A.KM Nurul Huda moved for the state at court while advocate Nuruzzaman Hossen stood for the state.
