10 March 2012- Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee of the United States of America Congressman Peter T. King assured that his country would continue lending its support to the incumbent government of Bangladesh in protecting democracy, curbing terrorism and carrying out war crimes trial. 11 March 2012- The Chief Election Commissioner along with other election commissioners made a courtesy call on President Zillur Rahman in city’s Bangabhaban on Sunday. Later, EC Md. Shah Newaz told banglanews, “The President invited us for a courtesy meeting and we apprised him about our regular activities.” “We also informed him about our work plan for next one month,” he added. Replying to a query, he said, “He (President) wanted to know about the upcoming Dhaka City Corporation elections. 12 March 2012- The International Crimes Tribunal Monday fixed March 13 for next hearing on arguments of defense counsels in connection of Ghulam Azam’s alleged crimes against humanity. ICT chairman Justice Nizamul Haque and Justice ATM Fazle Kabir passed the order as none of the defense counsels appeared before the tribunal Monday. 13 March 2012- The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) adjourned till Wednesday the hearing on framing charge against Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami for his alleged involvement in ‘crimes against humanity’. The ICT led by Justice Nizamul Haq, Tuesday passed the adjournment order after hearing arguments of state prosecution. State prosecutor Altaf Uddin Ahmed read out 23 pages of charges out of 73 during the hearing. On March 7, the three-member tribunal fixed Tuesday for hearing. banglanews24.com

14 March 2012- In a major development, Bangladesh has won its maritime suit against Myanmar Wednesday as per 151-page judgment of the international tribunal for laws of the sea (ITLOS) at Humburg of Germany. “It’s a great victory….We have got more than we expected” Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, also the co-agent of the case informed from Humburg. Bangladesh demanded 107000 square kilometers in the Bay of Bengal but the tribunal verdict awarded 1,11,000 square kilometers, she added. banglanews24.com

15 March 2012- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed categorically said the election schedules for the bifurcated Dhaka City Corporation would be announced by mid-April. He came up with the disclosure while talking to journalists at his office in the city Thursday. The chief election commissioner said, “As the deadline of holding DCC poll is May 29, we must declare the schedules by the middle of April.” The chief election commissioner, however, did not confirm whether the elections of the two bifurcated city corporations would be held on the same day or not. Electronic voting machines (EVM) might be used in 1,000 voting booths out of the 20,000 in bifurcated DCC, he added. banglanews24.com

16 March 2012- Speaker Advocate Abdul Hamid categorically urged all parliament members around the world to work together to face the climate challenges.
