The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) has claimed that one of its vessels, the Morgana, has managed to evade capture after Israeli forces intercepted other ships in the fleet attempting to reach Gaza.

In a statement posted on X, the group said: “Global Sumud Flotilla boat, Morgana, has evaded capture and is around 50 kilometres from Gaza!!!!”

Live tracking data published on the flotilla’s website on Thursday indicated that the Morgana was sailing steadily across the eastern Mediterranean toward the enclave, without interception.

On Facebook, supporters described the vessel’s progress as “a symbol of courage,” as diplomatic pressure mounted on Israel from several countries, including Colombia and Venezuela.

The development followed Israeli operations against other GSF ships, during which activists were detained after their vessels were struck with high-pressure water jets and bright searchlights before being boarded.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a coalition of ships carrying humanitarian aid and international activists, was launched to challenge Israel’s blockade of Gaza. Among those on board were participants from several nations, including Malaysia.

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned Israel’s actions after reports emerged that around 12 Malaysian activists had been arrested.

He vowed that Malaysia would pursue “all legitimate means” to hold Israel accountable, particularly for the safety of its citizens.
