China showcased an array of cutting-edge military technology — including laser systems, nuclear-capable ballistic missiles, and underwater drones — during a sprawling military parade on Wednesday marking the 80th anniversary of its victory over Japan in World War Two.

Held under tight security in Beijing, the event was attended by President Xi Jinping, who declared that China was “unstoppable” and would “never be intimidated” by global bullies.

His remarks, delivered ahead of the parade, were widely interpreted as a defiant message to Western powers amid rising tensions in the Indo-Pacific.

The high-profile display was made even more significant by the presence of 26 foreign leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. This marks the first time Xi, Putin, and Kim have appeared together publicly, drawing intense scrutiny from observers across Beijing, Seoul, and Moscow.

Analysts suggest that the rare trilateral appearance signals deepening strategic alignment among the three countries, each facing varying degrees of confrontation with the United States and its allies.

The parade also offered subtle insights into China’s military posture toward Taiwan, the self-governing democratic island that Beijing considers a breakaway province. Military analysts believe several systems showcased — including long-range missile platforms and amphibious assault vehicles — are tailored to a potential campaign across the Taiwan Strait.

Former US President Donald Trump, responding from afar, took to social media with a sharply worded post:
“Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you conspire against the United States of America.”

The comment underscored the increasingly tense geopolitical climate, as China bolsters ties with Russia and North Korea in a rapidly shifting global order.
