President Donald Trump has introduced a new initiative allowing individuals to apply for a “Trump Gold Card,” offering permanent U.S. residency for a $5 million fee.
On Wednesday, Trump announced the launch of TrumpCard.gov, a dedicated website where interested applicants can sign up by providing their name, region, email, and whether they are applying as an individual or a business.
The site promises to notify registrants as soon as the application process officially begins.
In a Truth Social post, Trump stated, “Countless people are eager to join the greatest nation and market in the world – the United States of America. The waiting list is now open!”
The concept of the residency card was first floated by Trump in February, describing it as a “gold card” that would grant wealthy applicants residency, work authorization, and a pathway to citizenship.
“These will be prosperous, successful individuals who will spend generously, pay substantial taxes, and create jobs,” Trump remarked at the time.
In April, Trump showcased a prototype of the gold-colored card, featuring his image, to journalists aboard Air Force One.
According to Trump administration officials, the new card is set to replace the existing EB-5 visa program, which offers permanent residency to foreign investors who contribute at least $1.05 million, or $800,000 in targeted economically challenged areas.
While the $5 million fee is the primary requirement, details on additional eligibility criteria remain undisclosed, though a vetting process has been mentioned.
Under current U.S. immigration laws, permanent residents can pursue citizenship after five years, provided they demonstrate basic English proficiency and meet “good moral character” standards.
