Govt mulls 2-yr internship after MBBS

DHAKA: The government is mulling to extend internship for one year more after passing MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) for medical college students.

Health minister Mohammed Nasim made the assertion while addressing a program at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in city on Saturday (December 19).

Nasim said, ‘Medical college students have to work as an internee for two years after completion of MBBS. Of these, they will have to do their internship in respective of educational institutions for one year and another year at respective village’.

He had discussed the matter with the prime minister, the minister added.

At present, medical students have to complete one-year internship after MBBS.
