One more dies, 755 new dengue cases recorded in 24 hours

Health authorities today reported 755 new dengue cases and one death across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, as the mosquito-borne disease continues to spread in various parts of the country.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the newly hospitalised patients, 131 were from Barishal division, 98 from Chattogram division, 187 from Dhaka division (outside the capital), 181 from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 68 from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 58 from Khulna division, 24 from Mymensingh division, six from Rangpur division, and two from Sylhet division.

Since the beginning of the year, dengue has claimed 243 lives and infected 57,770 people nationwide.

Last year, Bangladesh recorded 575 dengue-related deaths and 101,214 infections, marking one of the deadliest dengue outbreaks in the country’s history.
