8 dengue patients die, 1740 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least eight more dengue patients died while 1, 740 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (November 13), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 330 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,410 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,484 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,93,572 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 1,03,908 were in Dhaka and 1,89,664 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,86,071 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 1, 01,498 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1, 84,573 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 1,545 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,472 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
