Dengue: Death toll reaches 1,158 as 10 more die in 24 hours  

At least 10 dengue patients died while 2,660 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 14), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 460 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,587 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,158 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,37,251 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 91,468 were in Dhaka and 1, 45,783 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,27,757 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 88,237 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,39,520 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,509 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,827 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
