Dengue: 16 dead, 2,564 hospitalised in a day

At least 16 dengue patients died while 2,564 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 4), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 720 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,844 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,046 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,14,247 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 85,860 were in Dhaka and 1, 28,387 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,03,917 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 82,246 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,21,671 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,945 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,339 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
