Dengue deaths cross 1,000 mark this year as 17 die in 24-hr

At least 17 dengue patients died while 2,882 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 1), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 629 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,253 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,006 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,06,288 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 83,851 were in Dhaka and 1, 22,437 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,95,925 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 80,083 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,15,842 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 3,120 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,237 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
