DHAKA: Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) and Renoir Film Club (RFC) at Alliance Française de Dhaka are organising a film festival on Wednesday

World Film Manifestation Programme (WFMP) was initiated by DUFS to give film-lovers an opportunity to watch rare and classic films from different countries of the world in big screen, said a press release.

The programme is being organised on a regular basic every month in collaboration with cultural centres of embassy of different countries in Dhaka. The genre of the selected titles of this WFMP is drama. Four of the most lauded films of this genre are going to be screened.

Films will be screened at the auditorium of Alliance Française de Dhaka, 26 Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi during the two-day festival.

Screening Schedule:

AMOUR (2012), Length: 127 min, Director: Michael Haneke, Time: 4:00 P.M, Wednesday, 11-Feb-2015.

Synopsis: Georges and Anne are an octogenarian couple. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter, also a musician, lives in Britain with her family. One day, Anne has a stroke, and the couple's bond of love is severely tested.

The Intouchables (2011), Length: 112 min, Director: Olivier Nakache, Eric Toledano, 6:00 P.M, Wednesday, 11-Feb-2015.

Synopsis: An irreverent, uplifting comedy about friendship, trust and human possibility. Based on a true story of friendship between a handicap millionaire and his street smart ex-con caretaker. The Intouchables depicts an unlikely camaraderie rooted in honesty and humor between two individuals. Who, on the surface, would seem to have nothing in common.

La Classe (2008), Length: 128 min, Director: Laurent Cantet, Time: 4:00 P.M, Thursday, 12-Feb-2015.

Synopsis: François is a tough but fair teacher working in one of France's toughest schools, and his honest demeanor in the classroom has made him a great success with the students. But this year things are different, because when the students begin to challenge his methods François will find his classroom ethics put to the ultimate test.

The Artist (2011), Length: 100 min, Director: Michel Hazanavicius, , Time: 6. 00 P.M, Thursday , 12-Feb-2015.

Synopsis: Hollywood, 1927. George Valentin is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller, it seems the sky's the limit - major movie stardom awaits. The Artist tells the story of their interlinked destinies.

The film festival is open for all on first-come-first-serve basis; no entry pass is required.
