Renowned Bangladeshi musician Tahsan Khan has hinted at stepping away from live performances, marking a possible end to an illustrious 25-year career in music.
Currently touring Australia to celebrate the milestone, the artist shared the news during one of his scheduled concerts across five cities.
In a video clip that has gone viral on social media, Tahsan can be seen addressing the audience, saying, “This is my last concert. I’ll gradually wind down my music career.”
Reflecting on personal priorities, he added, “My daughter is growing up. Does it still suit me to be jumping around on stage with a beard?”
Tahsan also revealed that he has deactivated all his social media accounts, indicating a desire to withdraw further from public life.
This announcement follows his earlier decision to step back from acting. In a statement last year, the multi-talented performer — who had worked in television for two decades — explained, “When I feel my work is becoming repetitive or lacking in quality, I take a step back. Those who love me do so because they’ve liked my work.”
Health concerns have also played a role in his gradual retreat. Tahsan has previously disclosed that he suffers from heterotopia, a condition affecting his vocal cords and altering the structure of his voice. The problem began in 2018 and has significantly diminished his confidence and capacity to sing, particularly live. He had earlier warned fans that his ability to perform might decline over time.
"As days pass, my singing ability is fading," he had said. "If you notice fewer concerts and live performances from me, you’ll know the condition has worsened. Please pray that it doesn’t deteriorate further."
Tahsan's musical journey began with the popular rock band Black, later transitioning into a successful solo career. He also formed Tahsan and the Sufis, and more recently, performed with Tahsan and the Band. His concerts have continued to draw large audiences, making his potential departure from the stage a poignant moment for fans.
