Student missed HSC exam for sick mother under review

The government is considering a special arrangement for a student who missed the first day of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination due to sick mother who had to admit to the hospital.

A statement in this regard was issued by the government press wing on Friday (June 27).

This year’s HSC and equivalent examinations began on Thursday (June 26).

A report surfaced in the media that a student at Government Bangla College Centre in Mirpur, Dhaka, was unable to sit for the Bangla First Paper exam after arriving late to the centre due to a medical emergency involving his mother.

The issue has caught the attention of the authorities.

Speaking on the matter, Education Adviser CR Abrar said, “We are treating the matter seriously on humanitarian grounds. The possibility of allowing the student to sit for the missed Bangla First Paper exam is being reviewed under the relevant laws and regulations concerning public examinations. We empathize with him during this difficult time and request him not to be worried.”

The education authority is currently examining possible legal avenues to allow the student an opportunity to take the missed paper without compromising examination protocols.
