Chittagong University today (May 14) conferred an honorary Doctorate of Literature (D.Litt) degree on Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus for his global contributions to poverty alleviation through microcredit and his efforts in promoting peace.

The degree was awarded during the university's 5th Convocation held at its central playground. 

CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Yeahia Akhter handed over the certificate to Prof Yunus.

Pro-Vice Chancellors Dr Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan and Md Kamal Uddin were also present.
