Tk. 86000 cr ADP for FY-2014-15

DHAKA: The government is going to allocate Tk. 86,000 crore for the country’s ever largest Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2014–15. 

The ADP was placed at the meeting of the National Economic Council meeting on Tuesday chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.                 

The proposed size of the new ADP is 24 per cent higher compared to the revised ADP of the current fiscal year projecting 32 percent growth over the revised ADP of Taka 60,000 crore for the current fiscal year. The original size of the ADP for FY14 was 65,870 crore.      

The planning ministry has decided to allocate Tk. 18,098 crore for the communications sector, including Tk. 8,100 crore for the much-hyped Padma bridge.         

Of the total outlay of the ADP for FY 2014–15, Tk. 51,331 crore (65 per cent) will come from government funds and the rest funds will be arranged from project assistance.   

The ADP proposal was finalized at an extended meeting of the planning commission, with planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair on last Monday.    

Planning Secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam said to   banglanews that transport, education, power, rural development, water supply and housing sector will be given priorities in the next ADP.
