Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin today (June 10) said that claims of lower rawhide prices during Eid-ul-Azha are incorrect, assuring that sellers are receiving fair rates.
Speaking to reporters after visiting a temporary rawhide preservation center at Zamil Madrasah, he explained that the government had set fixed prices for salted rawhides, and rates were even expected to rise above the set price.
He highlighted that, following instructions from the Chief Adviser, the government provided 7.50 lakh maunds of salt to mosques, madrasahs, and orphanages free of charge, aiming to stabilize the rawhide market.
Bashir said that future governments could build on these measures to ensure better support for madrasahs and orphanages, including their rights to cattle market Hashil alongside rawhide sales, which could be incorporated into the Hut Policy.
Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza, Police Superintendent Zedan Al Musa, and other officials were present during the visit.
Earlier in the day, the Commerce Adviser inspected rawhide preservation sites in Natore and Joypurhat.
