In the proposed FY2025–26 budget, the government has extended the VAT exemption on imported raw materials for sanitary napkin production until 30 June 2030, aiming to reduce prices in the coming fiscal year.
Interim Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed made the announcement while presenting the Tk 7.9 trillion budget on Monday.
VAT exemptions have also been granted at the local level for sanitary napkins, packaged liquid milk, and ballpoint pens. Dr. Ahmed also acknowledged the often-overlooked contributions of homemakers, expressing respect and gratitude on behalf of the government and the public.
