DHAKA: Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee examinations 2018 have begun on Sunday (Nov 18).

The examinations will continue till Nov 26.

In the tests, MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) pattern has been repealed this year. 

The number of PEC examinees is 27,77,270 while 3,17,853 students are supposed to sit for Ebtedayee examinations.

On the first day, Primary and mass education minister Mostafizur Rahman was scheduled to visit the exam centers in Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, at 10am.

Of the total PEC examinees, 12,78,742 are male and 14,98,528 female while among the Ebtedayee examinees 1,66,814 are male and 1,51,039 female students.

PEC examination system was introduced in 2009 while Ebtedayee examination system in 2010 with a view to ensure quality education.

Besides, as many as 3,294 specially-abled examinees are attending the tests. They will be given extra 30 minutes for answering.
