CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Law enforcers detained the owner and his wife of the house in Alatuli village under Chapainawabgnaj sadar upazila which was cordoned-off since early Tuesday (November 28) suspecting that militants might be hiding there.

They are—Rashikul Islam, 40, and Nazma Begum, 35.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mahbubur Rahman said that explosives were recovered from the tin-shed house allegedly used as a militant den.

RAB Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud is leading the operation.

The house is located in a remote and solitary area, he said.

“The owner used to live in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. He was nabbed in the morning”, said Mufti.

The militant suspects inside the house were earlier urged to surrender but they didn’t.

RAB members retaliated as the suspects hurled grenades and fired gunshots upon the law enforcers, causing explosion that left the house charred.

Members of Bomb disposal unit entered the hideout at around 8:00am and came out at around 12:00pm.

However, details will be informed in a press briefing, added Mufti.
