Madrasa student’s hanging body found in Dhaka

DHAKA: Police recovered the hanging body of a Madrasa student from a house in city’s Uttarkhan area on Monday (Aug 21).

The deceased was identified as Tarek Molla, 14, son of one Hirok Molla, hailing from Kulunia village of Pabna sadar upazila. 

He was resided in his grandfather’s house in Uttarkhan and a student of Mohammadia Kaumia Madrasa in Beparipara of Uttarkhan.

Deceased’s grandfather Mominul Islam said Tarek closed the door of his room after having dinner on Sunday night (Aug 20). Failing to get any response, he broke the door in the morning and discovered Tarek’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.

Tarek was having an affair with a girl who got married recently and he had been suffering from depression ever since. It might have triggered the suicide, he added.

Uttarakhan police station sub-inspector (SI) Ashiqur Rahman said initially it is believed that Tarek committed suicide; however, the real reason behind the death will be revealed in the autopsy report.
