Framing charge in Cox’s Bazar war crime accused case Feb 26

DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has refixed the date for framing charge in the case filed against former MP Abdur Rashid Mia and 16 others of Moheshkhali upazila in Cox’s Bazar for wartime crimes. The new date is February 26.

The three-member tribunal headed by its chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam issued the order on Monday (January 22).

Among the accused, five were arrested. They are Moulvi Nurul Islam, 61, son of late Ali Mia of South Nolabila area under Moheshkhali union at Moheshkhali upazila, Jinnat Ali, 80, son of late Mir Ahmed of Putibila Modhuardale area under Moheshkhali Pourasava, and Osman Gani, 61, of Sikderpara in Maheshkhali town, Badsha Mia, 77, and Salamat Ullah Khan, 77. Later, Rashid Mia got bail with condition.

They had been arrested by police for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in 1971.

Police arrested them after the ICT issued arrest warrant against the alleged Razakars.
