DHAKA: The state has sought the certified copy of 16th amendment verdict. The office of the Attorney General recently applied to the Supreme Court seeking the certified copy of the apex court’s verdict.

Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul confirmed the matter on Wednesday (August 16) while he was talking to the journalists.

He said, “We have pleaded for the certified copy of the verdict. The solicitor wing of the Law and Justice Division also sought a certified copy of the verdict.”

The government is planning to file a petition with the apex court seeking review of its verdict that scrapped the 16th amendment to the constitution.

Ekramul Haque Tutul, however, did not make any comment, when he was asked whether the state is looking for the copy for filing review plea against the judgment.

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday (August 13) said that the government will seek review of the SC verdict seeking expunction of some of the remarks.

According to the rules, the review petition has to be filed in 30 days after receiving the certified copy of the apex court.   

On August 1, the Supreme Court released the 799-page full text of the verdict, which was pronounced on July 03.
