DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was nominated for ‘World Education Congress’ award for the year 2017 for his profound contribution in education.
He will be honored with the prestigious award at the sixth conference of the organizing body in Mumbai, India on November 23-24.
The Ministry of Education said in a press release Tuesday (July 18) that Nahid will be given the prize in ‘personal’ category as a recognition for his leadership and contribution in education.
‘World Education Congress’ award is generally given to the persons who contribute for changing social values and lives of large numbers of people.
However, acknowledging the Bangladesh minister’s contribution for expanding education, the organizing committee chairman Edward Smith hailed Nahid as an important and iconic person.
Nurul Islam Nahid will be handed over the prize on November 23.
