Bangladesh Cricket Board banned the former Test pacer Shahadat Hossain for five years from all types of cricket for physically assaulting his mate.

BCB also slapped him with a fine of Tk 3,00,000.

BCB confirmed about the decision on Tuesday (November 19).

33- year- old Shahadat Hossain can appeal against the punishment by November 26.

Shahadat beat his mate Arafat Sunny during the second day's play between Dhaka Division and Khulna Divison at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.

It was learned that Shahadat asked Arafat to shine one side of the ball, but Arafat refused to do, that angered Shahadat. He therefore gave bent to feelings at the field. Mates and umpire came to the rescue.
